Trip Report: 2011 Clear Creek Tube-n-Beer Day Float
With sunny skies and hot air temperatures, the day was ripe to hit the waters of Clear Creek by Golden. Even so, with the year's record winter snowpack and a cool spring, the mountain streams were still running fast and cold. The flow at Clear Creek clocked in at 480 cfs, about double of average for normal August flows. Our group did a couple of runs from the canyon, down past Main Street, through the thrilling rapids. With shivering bodies, it was soon hard to tell that Denver was roasting in the high 90's. Lunch and libations at Woody's capped off the exciting day.
