2012 Golden Gate Canyon State Park Day Ride
Let's escape the heat in town and ride the trails found along the Western side of Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The Western Loop in Golden Gate is actually a combination of at least three different trails: Blue Grouse, Mule Deer, and Elk. Totalling just under eight miles, this intermediate difficulty route is usually done in a counter-clockwise circle starting with Blue Grouse at Kriley Pond. Riders then connect onto Mule Deer to Panorama Point and then return to Kriley via the Elk Trail. Ride highlights include the scenic overlook at Panorama plus a fantastic, fast ride through the open meadows on the Elk Trail. Riders interested in 2.5 extra miles may add the Racoon loop at Panorama. Pack a lunch to enjoy at Panorama Point.
