Golden Gate Canyon State Park Day Ride
Let's escape the heat in town and ride the trails found along the Western side of Golden Gate Canyon State Park. The Western Loop in Golden Gate is actually a combination of two trails: Blue Grouse and Mule Deer. Totalling about 11 miles, this intermediate-difficulty route is usually done in a counter-clockwise circle starting with Blue Grouse at Kriley Pond. Riders quickly connect onto Mule Deer to head towards Panorama Point and then loop back onto Blue Grouse to return to Kriley. Ride highlights include the scenic overlook at Panorama plus a fantastic, fast ride through the open meadows on Mule Deer. Participants are invited to rendezvous at the "Loaf n Jug" parking lot at Iowa Drive and N. Washington St. (just north of Golden) at 9 am and carpool from there into Golden Gate Canyon. Lunch and beers at Woody's Pizza afterwards in Golden. Please contact Denverdav@q.com to sign up.
