2004 Colorado Trail Great Escape Weekend Trip
7/25/2004 - 7/31/2004
Jul 25th - 31st: The Colorado Trail from Molas Pass to Durango provides the best continuous, unspoiled singletrack in the state. If you've been hungering for the most extreme in backcountry mountain biking, this is it. The elevations are high, between 9,000 and 12,000 feet, and the views are amazing when the entire San Juan range expands before you. Rewarding your effort is the final day's 5,000’ downhill blast to Trimble Hot Springs for a very well deserved soak. The views include gorgeous basins of wildflowers with backdrops of red mountains, deep green forests and alpine lakes. Make no mistake: this is a difficult tour requiring significant endurance and technical skills.
What’s the price for 72 decadent miles of sweet, unbroken singletrack? The total cost of $300 per person covers one night’s lodging in each of Silverton and Durango, all meals from Monday lunch to Friday lunch, gas for the support vehicles, admission to the hot springs, and some communal items. Each participant must bring his own camping gear for the four starry nights out on the Colorado Trail. A portable propane-heated shower system will be available for daily use.
