Buck Gulch or Strawberry Jack Trail
From the trailhead parking lot in the valley of the north fork of the South Platte River, the biker has the option of riding either the Buck Gulch or Strawberry Jack trails to the top of the rolling hills south of the river. Buck Gulch offers a more strenuous climb, and in dry weather the decomposed granite that forms the base of the trail can be loose and deep in spots. Going downhill, this loose tread can be hazardous, compromising braking and steering. The elevation gain on either trail amounts to about 1800 feet. Once up top, the fun begins as the rider has a choice of many excellent trails to explore. The bridge across the South Platte.
