Mt. Thomas Trail
The infamous Mt. Thomas deathmarch is a 12-mile trail running along the ridge of Red Table Mountain from Crooked Creek Pass to connect with the Ruedi Trail down to Ruedi Reservoir.  This posting is for historical purposes only, since as of 2004, the Forest Service has closed off this trail to mountain bikers as it will become a future Wilderness Area.  The move means more on paper than bike, since the trail was virtually unrideable anyway due to the high altitude and endless miles of loose scree fields.  While the hike-a-bike was homicidally miserable, the views from the top and unending downhill thrill of the Ruedi Trail saved the day.  Mt. Thomas remains perhaps THE worst trail RMBB has had the ill-decision to partake. East end.
