Lead King Basin Loop
This is perhaps the most beautiful ride in the Crystal River Valley.  Lead King Basin, at the heart of this route, is one of the most unusual alpine valleys in the area—a lush, grassy opening among the craggy peaks created by glaciers converging from three sides.  The route is all 4-wheel drive roads, but of the sort where people regularly manage to roll their vehicles, so there’s a good dose of rock-hopping mixed in with riding that demands no more than picking a smooth line through the rocks and ruts.  The first 5 miles through Crystal to Lead King Basin are the rough and rocky part of the ride, the return leg is mostly smooth—though hardly level and even—dirt.
