If you're in the Pueblo or Canon City area and have some time to kill, this quirky road may be worth a visit. Constructed over 80 years ago by local inmates, Skyline Drive is a paved 3-mile, one-way roadway atop the crest of the Dakota Hogback geologic formation west of Canon City. With sheer dropoffs on both sides (and no guard rails!) at many spots, this road provides a hair-raising ride either by car or bike. The dramatic views and fossilized dinosaur tracks at several stops add to the coolness factor.
Off of Hwy 50 west of Canon City.
