Located 35 miles southwest of Pueblo, this 10.5-mile trail rises from scenic Lake Isabel over the spine of the Wet Mountains to end at Forest Service Road 637 in Huerfano Valley. The Cisneros Trail is the premier ride in the area, running across gorgeous landscapes of thick forests and open meadows. Expect lots of wildlife and beautiful wildflowers, but beware of the thunderstorms, as they can be really heavy here (hence the name WET Mountains). The trail climbs unmercifully from Lake Isabel for 2200' over 4.5 miles to the top of the ridge before dropping down the same amount on the other side. Riders are advised to set up a shuttle, turn back, or expect another hump back up to the ridge.
One mile west of Lake Isabel on FR 374.
