Lion Gulch
Located on Hwy 36, seven miles east of Estes Park, this moderate biking trail begins with a stiff 1000' climb in 2.75 miles. Once at the top, the terrain opens up into a series of meadows. Part of the Homestead Meadows National Historic District, this is where homesteaders first settled in the late 1800s. The 15-mile network of trails follows original wagon roads with some singletrack interlinks. A 2-mile trail continues onwards from the Meadows to connect with Hermit Park Open Space, home to dozens of prime camp sites and 15 very comfortable cabins.
