COLORADO TRAIL: CO-126 to Meadows Campground
This part of the Colorado Trail, especially beloved of bikers, runs from Jefferson County 126 to the Meadows Campground (officially segment 3 of the CT). Here the trail swoops through the woods on very smooth hardpack, twisting and turning, climbing and falling in a way that brings a smile to the rider's face. With few roots, rocks or technical challenges, the trail is a friend to new bikers and old pros alike. As it snakes through the forest, the CT intersects with the Shinglemill, Tramway, Green Mountain and other trails, which offer the rider the opportunity to explore more territory. Done as an out & back ride, this section covers 19.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1700 feet. Ridden in conjunction with other connecting trails, the distance can easily jump to 30 or 40 miles of singletrack bliss, making for a very full day in the saddle. Park in the day use lot.  There's a fee, but it helps to support trail maintenance.
