COLORADO TRAIL: Hotel Draw Road to Cumberland Basin
19-mile long Segment 27 is arguably the most technical of the final four sections of the Colorado Trail leading to the terminus in Durango. It trades rideability with incredible scenery. After ten miles of moderate alpine riding from Hotel Draw, the trail climbs steeply towards Indian Trail Ridge, a knife-edge ridge of talus and boulders to challenge even the best technical riders. Bikers (now hikers with bikes) can enjoy the stunning panoramas of the entire San Juan range atop the ridge. After a short descent, the segment ends at Cumberland Basin under Kennebec Pass.
As Hotel Draw Road reaches the top of the Continental Divide.
