The Colorado Trail drops from 11,800' at Georgia Pass to 9200' near Breckenridge in the course of 20 miles. While this section of trail has few technical challenges, it is by no means a downhill piece of cake. There are several significant climbs along the way, and the overall mileage is daunting. Most riders will tackle this as an out & back ride from Breckenridge. Another option is to start at the Jefferson Campground, riding to Breckenridge and overnighting before retracing the trail the next day.
